Roads Department

The month of June was a busy one for the Community Services District's roads department! Over 127 tons of asphalt were used to overlay roads, seal cracks, and fix potholes. That’s an increase from 100 tons used in May. A big shoutout goes to the General Services Department for their work on the CSD’s drag box, which allowed the roads department to complete the overlay work.

Overlay paving performed on Skyline Drive

Significant effort has also been dedicated to roadside mowing and weed abatement. Most of Deertrail Dr. has been mowed, with remaining sections scheduled for July. Additional areas maintained include Skyline Dr., Lower Valley Rd., and Cumberland Rd.

The roads team also completed routine street sweeping, sign maintenance, pavement marking, and erosion control in June. Seasonal temporary workers played a crucial role in these efforts, especially in supporting traffic control for large projects. Without their assistance, regular crews would be limited to just two workers for such tasks, severely impacting productivity.

We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we continue these vital improvements across our roadways.

Water Department

The water department also had a busy June with a lot of focus on fixing water leaks, tank maintenance, and weed abatement as we get into our summer months. The team also did their regular monthly manual meter reading.

The team completed 41 fire hydrant inspections in June, bringing the grand total to 293 of 653 hydrants inspected since January. The CSD continues to explore strategies to speed up that process and work through a backlog of hydrants that need minor maintenance, such as valve cleaning.
