Bear Valley Unveils Purple Heart Honor Garden
Bear Valley Springs officially unveiled the new sign at our Purple Heart Honor Garden. We are so grateful to live in a community dedicated to honoring our wounded heroes, as well as all veterans.
The Purple Heart Garden is the result of tireless efforts by volunteers who dedicated their time to bringing this project to life. Bear Valley Springs first proclaimed itself a Purple Heart Community in February of 2024 in support of our wounded veterans. After the declaration was made, a group of residents stepped forward to expand on the idea and create an Honor Garden to recognize our local heroes. The donor-funded project broke ground in October of 2024.
We thank the three Purple Heart recipients who were in attendance today: Pancho Ildefonso Colon Jr, David Hernandez, and James Rice.
Special recognition also goes to project organizer Holly Doering, Chaplain Col. Wes Clare for his remarks, Greg Hahn for emceeing today's event, and the incredibly talented artist who created the sign, John Corona.
