The Bear Valley Police Department has arrested an individual suspected of mail theft following the recovery of numerous stolen packages.

On December 17, officers received a report of packages abandoned in Tehachapi. Many of those boxes had Bear Valley mailing addresses on them.

Bear Valley Police obtained surveillance video from a business near the area and identified a vehicle linked to the packages. Later that day, officers located the vehicle driving in Bear Valley Springs and stopped it.

Inside the vehicle, police found numerous packages that appeared to have recently been taken from residential mailboxes in Bear Valley Springs. Police arrested the driver and recovered the packages. Police have confirmed that the suspect is not a BVS resident, but had been issued a gate pass by a resident.

Bear Valley Police are now trying to reunite the stolen mail with its intended recipients. If you believe you have been a recent victim of mail theft, please contact the Bear Valley Police Department at 661-831-3239 so you can identify and recover stolen items.
