CSD Takes Next Step in Bear Valley Road Rehabilitation Project
In a unanimous vote, the Bear Valley Community Services District (CSD) Board of Directors authorized an agreement with Provost and Pritchard to begin design work on the Bear Valley Road Rehabilitation Project.
Earlier this year, Provost and Pritchard conducted an engineering study examining several deteriorating sections of Bear Valley Road. This study included the collection and analysis of data related to soil conditions, traffic, topography, and current pavement conditions. Their findings, along with three potential rehabilitation options, were presented to the Board of Directors in September. The Board approved one of those options, moving the project forward.
At a Special Board Meeting on December 17, the CSD Board of Directors authorized a Task Order allowing Provost and Pritchard to use the engineering study data to create a full project design. The design will include a complete reconstruction of Bear Valley Road from the gate to Oakflat Drive, and from Bay Court to Martingale Way. Water main lines and service lines will also be replaced as part of the project.
This work must be performed by a licensed Professional Engineer, which the CSD does not have on staff. As a result, the District is required to contract with outside engineering firms.
The Bear Valley Road Rehabilitation Project will address sections of the road that were part of a failed rehabilitation project in 2017. At that time, substandard roadway design led to premature failures and deterioration. By conducting a thorough engineering study and completing a full design before construction begins, the CSD is taking steps to ensure this rehabilitation will provide long-term reliability.
The CSD expects construction to begin in Spring 2026.
