How To Become A Firewise Community
On 2/11, Kern County Regional Firewise Coordinator Wendy Ward joined the CSD Disaster Preparedness Advisory Council to inform Bear Valley residents about the Firewise Community program.
Home insurance rates are expected to increase dramatically and become more difficult to obtain in 2025 as a moratorium on cancellations expires this summer. By becoming an official Firewise Community, residents can help make sure their properties are insurable at affordable rates. The Firewise program is designed to be resident-driven, meaning the Community Services District cannot be directly involved in its creation. We can help by sharing basic information, but the community has to make this happen.
