On August 31 at 4:15 pm, Bear Valley Police responded to a reported hit-and-run incident after a vehicle left Cumberland Road near Lakeview Drive, struck a school bus stop sign, drove through two fences, and crossed two residential properties before leaving the area.

When an officer arrived, they found damage and tire marks indicating that a vehicle traveling East on Cumberland Road left the road, struck a school bus stop sign, and continued through a fence and into a home’s yard.

The vehicle then traveled across the property, crashed through a second fence, and entered a property on Ridgeview Court. Tire marks indicated the vehicle continued across that property before returning to Cumberland Road and leaving the area.

While officers were investigating the crash scene, police received a report of a damaged vehicle parked near Bear Valley Road and Willow Pass Drive.

Officers located the unoccupied vehicle and observed substantial damage, including a missing rearview mirror, a damaged fender, and damaged tires. Debris recovered from the crash scene was consistent with the damage to the vehicle.

Further investigation led to the identification of the suspected driver, Anthony Mangus DOB 11/04/95, who was subsequently arrested (cited and released) on scene for suspicion of the following violations:

• Hit and Run – CVC 20002(a)
• Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License for DUI – CVC 14601.2(a)
• Failure to Provide Evidence of Financial Responsibility – CVC 16028(a)
