Bear Valley Police Locate Missing Woman with Dementia After Overnight Search

On Thursday, April 9, an elderly woman with dementia was reported missing in Bear Valley Springs. The woman, who resides in a memory care facility out of town, was visiting with family at their vacation home on Columbia Way.
Family members say she went to bed at 9:00 p.m. At some point overnight, she walked out of the home. The family reported her missing at 4:15 a.m.
Family members reported the woman missing. Bear Valley Police and Kern County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call for help.
Around 5:15 a.m on April 10, police found the woman on Bear Valley Road near Oakflat alongside an individual who had been driving by and stopped to check on her.
When officers arrived, they found the woman shivering and unsteady, but apparently unhurt. A Bear Valley Police Officer drove her back to her house, where medics from the Kern County Fire Department confirmed she was in good condition.
