CSD Board of Directors Discusses Potential Road Assessment Increase

The CSD is continuing the Proposition 218 process to establish additional funding for the Roads Department.

The current annual Roads assessment of $340 per parcel was established in 1996 and has not been adjusted since. The Roads Fund is operating at a deficit, with no funding available for day-to-day operations and major projects after the current Bear Valley Road Rehabilitation Project is completed.

Before proposing a new or increased property-related assessment, the CSD must conduct a professional analysis to determine the costs of providing the service. The Board of Directors previously authorized a contract with NBS Government Finance Group to conduct this analysis.

At its October 22 meeting, the Board voted to have NBS present its findings at the December 10 regular Board meeting.

The findings will help the CSD develop a timeline and proposed rate structure for a potential road assessment increase. No increase has been proposed at this stage.
