Professional Background

I am a professional civil engineer specializing in water infrastructure. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. I have been employed since 1982 by Mott MacDonald, an international engineering consulting firm, and am currently semi-retired and working part-time.

Why did you decide to serve on the CSD Board of Directors?

I have been a volunteer on the CSD Infrastructure Committee for three years. In that time, I have become aware of the complexity of our water system and the substantial need for investment in both water and roads to ensure the long-term reliability and quality of service to the residents. I decided that my knowledge and experience in the planning, management, and delivery of infrastructure projects would be useful in helping the Board develop strategies and make decisions for infrastructure programs.

What are your primary goals as a board member?

My most important goal is to help the CSD launch long-term engineering and financial plans to renew aging infrastructure. I am also focused on fiscal responsibility and addressing the challenge of costs that have been rising faster than revenue. I believe there is also room for improving or updating some of our policies and ordinances, and for a renewed focus on ensuring that staff understand and correctly follow them.

What is your favorite thing about Bear Valley?

When my now-deceased first wife and I decided to relocate from New Jersey to California a few years ago, we considered various parts of the Tehachapi area. We felt that Bear Valley Springs offered the best opportunity to become engaged in a community and create new friendships 3,000 miles away from our old home — and that has proven to be true. It even led to me meeting and marrying another Bear Valley Springs resident.

Is there anything else you’d like our residents to know about you?

I am a proud grandfather, and my grandchildren love to visit here. The first parade they ever saw was here on July 4, 2021, and in the two following years, we were in the parade.
