Scam Targeting Bear Valley Springs Residents

The Bear Valley Police Department is investigating a scam targeting residents of Bear Valley Springs.

Multiple residents have reported receiving messages claiming to be from the Bear Valley Springs Association. The messages include the following (or similar) information:

I hope you’re doing well. We need to issue a payment to a vendor who accepts Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or ACH, but our Treasurer Fred Hicks, is not familiar with these methods.

Could you handle the payment on our behalf? Fred will reimburse you by check.

The Bear Valley Springs Association has confirmed that they did not send these messages.

If you receive a similar message, please report it to the Bear Valley Police Department. Reports can be filed online by visiting bvcsd.org/police-department. You can also call BVPD at 661-861-3110.
